PLEASE BE HERE NOW, DWELLING #2: Encounters

Roskilde Festival, July 2016
Second part of a series of performance-laboratories based on exposed dwelling-places, examining basic themes of our being in the world.

In PLEASE BE HERE NOW part two, the focal point was ‘encounters’. During three days and nights, a total of 69 hours, Nana Francisca Schottländer lived, slept, eat and encountered people through the see-through walls of a glass house in a bustling passage of the Roskilde Festival. She examined the meetings, exchanges and moments that her presence created and asked the question: If encounters are always determined by context, then how do we meet each other here?
The piece answered the question in a million different ways, from the absurd to the deeply touching and everything in between. Spectators were drawn to the house again and again to gaze into her eyes, write on the wall, dance, kiss, drink, sleep and bare their souls in the context of the piece – coming together, sharing a moment or more…
As an extension of the piece an online chat was created and transmitted on LED panels placed in the area around the inhabitation.
The outcome can be read here
During the piece invited guests visited the house to experience the encounter with people on the other side of the glass and to share their thoughts on encounters in different contexts.
