TIDEVANDSMEDITATIONER / TIDAL MEDITATIONS

Participatory choreographed performances at Blåvandshuk

Part of Wadden Tide 2026 - Bringing in the Tide

We venture out beyond the human-made, to where it all falls away.
All the way out to the point where constant transformation is all there is —unbound, perpetual, and complete in itself.

Tidal Meditations is a series of participatory performances developed in and with different sites in the Wadden Sea. Each performance is a unique and site specific encounter with the dynamics that shape the tidal zones: water, wind, matter in constant flux and transformation.

Wearing costumes that catch the wind the participants move slowly together as a group, creating formations in the landscape while immersing themselves with a deeply personal and intimate encounter between the human body and the many more-than-human bodies and entities inhabiting and shaping these environments.

As the tide gradually approaches, the participants surrender to the rising waters and immerse their bodies. The tide takes centre stage while the human bodies become contours in the landscape, submerged in the experience of its movement and continual transformation.
The performance is a form of meditative evolutionary training, examining if we are capable of surrendering our bodies and senses to evolve as species in curious and reciprocal encounters with a rapidly shifting world of rising waters and other ecological shifts.
